October -- FRANKENFEST - Our Halloween salute to Frankenstein

STATELY RAVEN BOOKSTORE
PRESENTS THE
FRANKENSTEIN
“CREATIVE”
WRITING CONTEST
ENTRIES DUE SATURDAY, OCT. 18TH
AT STATELY RAVEN BOOKSTORE
1315 NORTH MAIN STREET, FINDLAY

If you are in the Halloween spirit and want to write a scary story, or even a funny-scary story, this is your chance! The greatest fright tale of all time is Mary Shelley’s mad-scientist monster classic Frankenstein, and we’re challenging YOU to write your very own Frankenstein story!
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
     Categories — Grades 1-3, Grades 4-5, Grades 6-8, Grades 9-12

Word limit — Grades 1-3 — 300 words or fewer
                             Grades 4-12 — 1,000 words or fewer
Content — Frankenstein monster and/or Dr. Frankenstein must be a major
          character in the story.
A little blood or body parts, sure (It’s a Frankenstein story!),
but go easy on the gory stuff.

That’s it! The rest is up to you and your sinister imagination…

All entries MUST have the writer’s name, age, address, phone number, and grade and school he or she attends. Writers can type and print stories on computer, or write by hand, printing neatly, on lined paper. Drawings and illustrations would be great, too! All entries must be received by 6 p.m. Saturday, October 18th at Stately Raven Bookstore, 1315 North Main Street, in Findlay. Entries that are mailed must be postmarked by Oct. 18th, and sent to the above address.

Entries will be judged by Stately Raven Bookstore’s resident panel of mad scientists! The 1st Place winner in each category receives a $20 gift certificate, and other prizes. Honorable mentions will be chosen for each category. All writers and their families are our invited guests for special FRANKENFEST events and movie screenings throughout October, including the classic The Bride of Frankenstein on our Wrtiting Contest Award Night -- Friday, October 31st at 7 p.m. — part of our special FRANKENFEST evening of Halloween events. Popcorn and goosebumps for all!

Good luck...good writing...and have fun creating!
